Senior Backend Engineer - Automation

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer - Automation, you’ll serve as a technical pillar within our delivery teams, designing and implementing scalable automation solutions that improve data ingestion, data quality, and data integrity across client environments. You’ll work closely with clients and internal teams as a strategic technical consultant, helping define best practices, identify opportunities for optimization, and build reliable backend and data engineering solutions that support critical business workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated data validation and quality assurance frameworks for data ingestion pipelines
• Build and implement automated integrity checks to ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of ingested data
• Identify gaps in existing data workflows and engineer scalable automation solutions to improve data quality, reliability, and operational efficiency
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries to support data analysis, validation logic, pipeline monitoring, and data integrity checks
• Transform and process large datasets using distributed data frameworks such as PySpark or Snowpark
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, client stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to define quality standards and implement automated testing strategies
• Advise clients on automation, data engineering, and data integrity best practices, acting as a strategic partner in technical implementation decisions
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of data pipeline tooling, processes, documentation, and engineering standards
• Support agile delivery practices by communicating technical risks, recommendations, and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Other duties as assigned

About You

Qualifications & Skills

• 8+ years of relevant experience in backend engineering, automation engineering, data engineering, or a related QA/data quality role
• B2+ English level
• Strong Python proficiency, including hands-on experience with data analytics frameworks such as Pandas
• Experience with distributed data transformation frameworks, specifically PySpark or Snowpark
• Strong command of SQL and data querying patterns across relational and analytical databases
• Proven ability to design and implement automated data validation, data integrity, and data quality checks at scale
• Solid understanding of data ingestion patterns, pipeline architecture, data transformation, and backend system design
• Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders, with the ability to provide strategic technical guidance and translate business needs into scalable engineering solutions
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment
• Nice to have: experience with MongoDB or other document-based databases
• Nice to have: familiarity with dbt for data transformation and modeling
• Nice to have: experience with Snowflake as a cloud data platform
• Nice to have: knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices as applied to data workflows
• Nice to have: experience with RPA for automation tasks
