About the Role
As a Senior Art Director - Temp, you'll help shape and execute integrated creative campaigns across two major financial services brands. Working alongside copywriters, creative directors, producers, project managers, and cross-functional creative teams, you'll bring compelling ideas to life across television, video, social, display, and digital experiences.
This role requires someone who thrives both at the conceptual stage and throughout production. You'll help develop campaign ideas, guide visual storytelling, and collaborate closely with writers and producers to ensure creative excellence from initial concept through final execution.
One project focuses on a high-profile Formula 1 campaign featuring scripted live-action creative, while the other centers on documentary-style storytelling using existing production footage to create engaging content across multiple channels.
This is a full-time freelance opportunity (approximately 40 hours per week), with an expected start as soon as possible through approximately the end of November.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop visually compelling concepts for integrated campaigns across TV, video, social, display, and digital.
- Partner closely with copywriters to build strong, strategically grounded creative concepts and campaign ideas.
- Translate creative strategy into engaging visual executions that elevate storytelling across multiple channels.
- Lead visual concept development while remaining actively involved throughout production and final delivery.
- Collaborate with creative directors, producers, project managers, and cross-functional creative teams throughout the creative process.
- Create and refine storyboards, presentation materials, visual directions, and campaign assets.
- Support scripted live-action productions and collaborate with production teams to ensure creative integrity throughout execution.
- Develop creative solutions using both newly produced content and existing production footage.
- Adapt campaign ideas across multiple formats, platforms, and audience touchpoints while maintaining consistency in visual storytelling.
- Participate in creative reviews, respond thoughtfully to feedback, and iterate quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain high standards of craft, design quality, and visual consistency across all deliverables.
- Balance conceptual thinking with hands-on execution, contributing meaningfully at every stage of the creative process.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of art direction and design experience within an advertising agency, creative agency, or integrated marketing environment.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating integrated campaign work across TV, video, social, digital, and other multi-channel experiences.
- Proven ability to develop high-level campaign concepts and carry them through production and execution.
- Strong experience collaborating on live-action productions and working alongside production teams.
- Experience developing visual storytelling for scripted and/or documentary-style content.
- Excellent understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, composition, and contemporary digital design.
- Comfortable working from initial concept development through detailed production execution.
- Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate creative rationale.
- Experience collaborating closely with copywriters as part of an integrated creative partnership.
- Ability to balance multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and other industry-standard creative tools.

Location
Open to candidates located within the United States. Candidates on either the East or West Coast will be considered; availability during Eastern Time business hours is preferred to support collaboration with the project team.

Monks has provided an hourly rate that represents its good faith estimate of what Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting.
