As a Network Engineer, you’ll manage network services across Monks’ global offices, with a primary focus on APAC. Based in Kuala Lumpur and working as part of a global team, you’ll lead regional network transformation, support reliable day-to-day operations, and manage projects independently with minimal supervision.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable, and collaborative, takes ownership of their work, and seeks opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.

Responsibilities:

• Lead network transformation initiatives across APAC, delivering upgrades and scalable network architecture.
• Manage tasks and projects independently, from planning through deployment.
• Administer Internet connectivity, LANs, dynamic routing, VPNs, firewalls, and Wi-Fi across Monks’ global sites.
• Resolve network incidents within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs), communicating clearly throughout.
• Maintain and administer network assets from our Kuala Lumpur office.
• Plan and deploy network changes, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
• Automate routine operational and maintenance tasks.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on network service performance.

About You

The essentials:

• Proven experience as a mid to senior Network Engineer, with the ability to drive regional network initiatives independently.
• A proactive approach to owning network stability, improvements, and project delivery.
• A track record of resolving network incidents within demanding SLAs.
• Relevant network and firewall certifications, preferably Fortinet NSE 4, 5, 6, 7, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with Fortinet products, including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiManager.
• Hands-on experience with wireless technologies, including Aruba Wireless, FortiAP, UniFi, and Extreme Networks.
• Hands-on experience with Juniper routers and switches.
• Experience with fiber optic networks at various speeds.
• Deep knowledge of DNS, DHCP, routing and switching, and routing protocols including OSPF and BGP.
• Strong network troubleshooting and documentation skills.
• Experience with network monitoring tools, preferably Zabbix and LibreNMS.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and time management skills.
• The ability to learn quickly, share knowledge, and adapt to new technologies.
• Self-motivation, attention to detail, and a calm, balanced approach under pressure.

Not a Must but a Plus:

• Intermediate Linux experience, including an understanding of how Linux systems work.
• Knowledge of Windows operating systems and services, including Active Directory, Certificate Authority, and NPS.
• Experience with virtualization.
• Experience writing scripts for administration and automation, preferably in Python.
