About the Role

Monks is looking for a Director of Strategy to be the on-site lead for a new, major client initiative. You will serve as the strategy lead for this CPG client, helping develop strategic deliverables across their lines-of-business, proactively sharing thought leadership, and identifying opportunities for organic relationship growth.

This is a role where you will conduct research, analyze trends, derive insights, and apply best practices to inform client marketing initiatives. Our ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, able to offer creative and innovative strategic solutions both to internal teams and clients, and be a fast and flexible go-getter who jumps on new opportunities. The role requires someone who understands how to tackle a range of client business problems with flexibility and focus. We seek someone who is a self-starter and unafraid to jump into new projects and take the lead.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of all strategic deliverables across the account, including managing junior-level strategists, partnering with core team leads and internal specialists, and writing program briefs
  • Serve as the strategic lead across lines-of-business, keep a pulse on the client's industry and account,  and provide strategic resources, approaches, and thought leadership
  • Collaborate with account and creative leads to identify opportunities to grow client relationships and deepen strategy support across the business
  • Clearly communicate strategic recommendations internally and to the client.
  • Collaborate with the creative teams on ideation and execution.
  • Support and participate in account planning exercises and meetings 
  • Lead effective ideation sessions and workshops with creative and client teams, turning ideas into actionable programs and/or products.
  • Execute programs by helping get programs off the ground and owning the strategy to launch, optimize and measure program success.
  • Directly manage at least 1 direct report

About You

The essentials:

  • 8+ years of experience in marketing or strategy, with a minimum requirement of 3 years in CPG marketing.
  • Ability to synthesize client objectives, data, research insights and other inputs to formulate actionable and measurable strategies.
  • Experience building and executing end-to-end marketing campaigns and programs.
  • Strong analytical, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills .
  • Experience supporting strategies across a variety of different channels, e.g. retail, digital, email, media, etc.
  • Sense of humor and strong team orientation
  • Embrace working in a fast paced continually evolving environment, and on highly cross-functional teams

Monks has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting. Monks may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on job-related factors, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
